The Connecticut Department of Public Health certified the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT as a Primary Stroke Center in October of 2009. This means that Backus offers rapid and comprehensive stroke care and has the staff and programs do so on a consistent basis. The program also offers stroke education to patients and the community.
