Dr. Anthony Alessi

Anthony G. Alessi, MD is a board-certified, Connecticut neurologist in private practice specializing in general neurology, neuromuscular diseases, EMG and sports medicine.

Dr. Alessi is an Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Connecticut and serves as Medical Director for the Backus Hospital Primary Stroke Center. He was recently named Ringside Physician of the Year 2009 by the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians for his efforts in making boxing safer.

As CEO and Chairman of Colonial Cooperative Care, Inc., he oversees a physician-owned Connecticut medical management company and insurance brokerage.

Dr. Alessi's career in medical journalism includes serving as host of Healthy Rounds a weekly medical information program broadcast on WTIC Hartford. He also hosts Neuro Frontiers on ReachMD XM 160, a daily show updating medical professionals. His book, "Healthy Rounds: A Doctor’s Lessons for a Winning Lifestyle," is a compilation of his weekly columns published in the Norwich Bulletin.
